South America Integration
One of the new challenges posed to the Brazilian civil society is to follow-up, monitor and intervene in the South American countries’ integration. As of 2010, the Mercosur Parliament – the legislative authority of regional representation – will rest on the participation of Brazilian representatives elected in direct elections (currently, the Brazilian National Congress designates 18 representatives). The establishment and implementation of that Parliament, jointly with the South American Regional Infrastructure Integration Initiative (IIRSA), demand the civil society’s participation and intervention to avoid a process that disregards the interests of populations in the region’s countries.

Inesc works towards strengthening the Inter-American Front of Parliamentarians and Civil Society. The Front was established in 2004, and serves as a privileged forum to the intervention of national legislatives and civil society's representations. Moreover, it closely follows-up the Mercosur Parliament establishment, which has effectively started working in the first half of 2007.
Inesc integrates and participates - jointly with other organizations and civil society’s movement in South America – in the following regional articulations:
- Mercosur Initiative, regional section of the Inter-American Platform of Human Rights, Democracy and Development (PIDHDD)
- WG Integration, composed of entities member of the Brazilian Network to Peoples' Integration - Rebrip, Brazil's Network on Multilateral Financial Institutions and the Brazilian Forum of NGOs and Social Movements to the Environment and Development - FBOMS.
- Articulation Front to the South American Regional Infrastructure Integration Initiative - IIRSA
